What do dynamite, diving, busking, being arrested and detective chickens have in common? They all play a part in this week’s Portable Magic.
Australian author Lian Tanner writes picture books, novels and fantasy books for children, including The Keepers Trilogy and latest release, A Clue for Clara. Lian’s first picture book Ella and the Ocean, illustrated by Jonathan Bentley, won the 2020 Patricia Wrightson Prize for Children’s Literature in the NSW Premier’s Literary Award.
Like so many writers and illustrators, Lian has worked in a number of jobs, including teaching in Australia and Papua New Guinea, driving a tourist bus, juggling, editing and acting. This wide range of experience has led Lian into many adventures, some of which she shares in our Portable Magic interview.
