As we gear up for Christmas and all the busy-ness that involves, I’ll be taking a break from recording and releasing Portable Magic.
My final guest for 2020 is a talented writer and illustrator who has 17 books in print worldwide, in nine different languages.
Author, illustrator and musician Mark Wilson has a passion for the environment and Australian history. His work includes picture books about nature, children and animals in war and convict children. Each book is exquisitely illustrated and carefully researched. As well as writing and illustrating his own work, Mark also illustrates books for other authors.
Mark’s work has been recognised in many awards including the Royal Zoological Society (Whitley) Awards for children’s literature, CBCA Children’s Book Awards and the Wilderness Society Picture Book Awards. In 2011 Mark was awarded the Dromkeen Medal for Services to Children’s Literature.
In this edition of Portable Magic Mark talks about about how he started illustrating picture books, the importance of comics and Weetie packets, and his latest projects.
I loved talking to Mark and seeing the work behind his books. I known you will enjoy this conversation.
